Renowned legal luminary and founder of the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola has described Erelu Bisi Fayemi, wife of the incoming governor of Ekiti state as a woman of virtues.

Aare Afe Babalola made this remark in Ado-Ekiti while playing host to the incoming First Lady of Ekiti state, who was on a courtesy call and to officially invite the elder statesman to the inauguration ceremony of the incoming administration.

Chief Afe Babalola praised his guest for being a model for the young in culture, brilliance and public service. He noted that Erelu was a well-trained African woman for choosing to personally come to give him the invitation card when many in her shoes could have sent a protocol officer.

In his words, Chief Afe said: ‘I am always proud of you. You are a model to the young ones. I’m happy to tell you that ABUAD is committed to training women of virtues like you. We just graduated the first of our medical school, the best from the set are women.

Chief Afe Babalola also expressed his support for the incoming administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi. He pledged to support the administration whenever he was called upon. He described Kayode Fayemi as a humble and highly intelligent person whom he said, commands his respect at all.

According to the legal giant, ‘I share the same passion with Fayemi on the education and development of Ekiti. As one of the founding fathers of Ekiti state, I will continue to contribute to the progress of the state’.

He spoke on the new ultra-modern medical hospital complex and the commitment of the university to be a reference point in medical education and services. In his words: ‘Fayemi is coming at a time the university is moving to the next level. ABUAD stands for the production of qualitative education, culture and agriculture. My wishes are to make Ekiti the best among her peers.’

He lamented that the road leading to the university was in bad shape and needed to be fixed quickly. He therefore urged the government, when inaugurated, to attend to the road as it was presently solely being maintained by ABUAD. He also requested the incoming administration to look into the airport project which he said would benefit the university and the state at large.

Earlier on, Erelu Bisi Fayemi had told her host that she had personally come to deliver the invitation card to the inauguration ceremony to him because of the high esteem with which the governor-elect held him. She said the governor-elect wanted to personally deliver the invitation to him but was engaged in Abuja as a member of the APC Convention Committee.

Erelu Fayemi said her husband considered Aare Afe Babalola an important father of Ekiti whose contributions and relevance could not be ignored by anyone. She sought the support of the elder statesman as the administration of her husband was due for inauguration on October 16, 2018.
